output ritual is a quantum love letter between home, landscape, and community in collaboration during the pandemic. Seeking creative inspiration, novelty, and connection during lockdown in 2020, Madelyn Byrd invited Tabitha Denson, Magdalena Jadwiga Härtelova, Sharece Anissa Phillips, Tessa Magnuson - residing in their respective homes around the globe - to entangle themselves through spoken word, music, dance, and satellite exploration. From examining domestic tensions to losing oneself to the slippery nature of time, they collectively navigate and depict the intricacies of their microcosmic existence during the pandemic.
Working in long-distance dialogue, the artists explore nuances and similitude of isolation through different vantage points. They transcend geographical boundaries, depicted through contorted and flattened landscapes, as they dlve into the multifaceted aspects of quarantine life. Poetry, sound, movement, and dream-like, bubbling miasmic landscapes alchemize and contorting into a surrealist soup of figure, geography, and time. The project extends beyond the four walls of each artists’ bedroom cocoons in a collective expedition towards interconnection. Output Ritual holds the digital twin with a delicate optimism, a portal of belonging across time and space.
